See below for one man’s humble opinion (by way of a Sauvignon Blanc Review) of this offering from Kirkland Signature. This Kirkland Ti Point Sauvignon Blanc can be exclusively purchased at Costco.
Sauvignon Blanc Review Highlights
- Wonderfully bright….the acidity is wonderful and screams to be consumed on warm days!
- There is plenty of interesting things going on with this wine….much more than you’d expect out of something in this price range.
- Unless you really don’t like Sauvignon Blanc, I find it hard to believe that anyone would have an issue with this wine at this price…it simply shines!
Sauvignon Blanc Review Details
The color is very light in the glass…but what you’d expect from this varietal. The nose provides a good bit of lemon, along with a bit of pineapple and melon to provide a nice sense of the fruit. Secondary and Tertiary notes are limited, but that’s what you expect from a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that’s surely unoaked.
It’s amazingly refreshing….bright citrus and grassy notes surface on the palate, making you instantly want to be poolside with a glass in your hands (hopefully plastic or metal…no glass in the pool for the little ones to encounter!).
No matter how much you drink this….the acidity never dies and it always is pleasant. It’s almost inexplicable that this only costs $6.99. It’s my every day cooking wine…and my cooking wine is not to be poured into the dishes…instead it’s my cooking wine because it’s perfect to be sipped while I’m cooking – no matter what the dish.
The Acquisition Backstory
OK – look…I’m cheap. Well, not cheap, but definitely frugal. I generally look at wine at Costco and judge based upon the price, unless I’ve tried something before. However, when it was time to buy some wine for a get-together at my place where I wasn’t sure if anyone really cared about the quality of wine, I was looking for the cheapest. And let’s face it…there’s not many bottles of wine at Costco, nor at other locations that I’d even let enter my body than this $6.99 number. The first time I had it, I was astonished at the flavors and wonderful acidity. It has become my every day white. It NEVER disappoints.
After having it the first time…it has become the wine that I always tell people about….I’m that guy! Have you had the Kirkland Signature Sauvignon Blanc? If not, you have to try it! I’ve told co-workers, acquaintances…I’ve even told my trash man (ask me about it!). And if you don’t like it, besides being mistaken, you also will only be out about the cost of a movie theater ticket! And if you need a great option from Costco for an affordable red wine, check out my review of 2021 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Food Pairings for the Kirkland Signature 2021 Ti Point Sauvignon Blanc?
Sauvignon Blanc traditionally pairs with chicken and seafood. This one lines up well with these. The bright acidity can tame the most savory tomato based sauces. However, stick mostly with lighter sauces – and keep the protein to chicken or seafood.
Enjoy!
