This is a review of the InkBird IBT-6XS thermometer.
This thermometer is pretty amazing quality and has great features for the price, resulting in some serious value. Having 6 probes is probably more than anyone would ever need. However, I found that after a couple of years with extensive use the probes would begin to die, resulting in inaccurate readings. Sometimes even completely bizarre readings of over 500 degrees F).
It comes with 5 meat probes, plus an ambient temperature sensor. I used it often with brisket, where the 6 probes allowed me to monitor many different parts of the brisket accurately. The app is decent, although not amazing. It relies only on Bluetooth. This means that often times I would have to stay close by as opposed to more modern options with WiFi which allow for temp monitoring anywhere.
The only real issue I have with the InkBird is that it’s wired. When you have 6 probes, they can get pretty tangled. On top of that, it’s really hard to tell which probe coincides with which reading. I have more than once burned myself on the wires as I’ve tried to track the meat probe to the sensor. Yes, I’m not very intelligent.
Overall, I’d buy this again anytime. In addition to my favorable review, online reviews also seem to be very positive for this InkBird thermometer. It was my first real happy experience with remote meat thermometers. My previous experiences always ticked me off and I always relied on my instant read thermometers, sometimes resulting in more probes than I’d care to admit. I’ve since upgraded to the Meater Block. However, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this again, if I can stomach the wire mess.
